The short answer

Both main curved levelers do the same job well. The Andersen two-pack with mats and a bag is the complete answer for a tandem-axle trailer; the Beech Lane single is less than half the price per unit and includes a chock and a grip mat, so two of them is the value route.

A curved leveler is a molded ramp with a shallow rising curve. You drive the trailer up it until a bubble level reads level, then wedge a chock behind the tire to stop it rolling back down the curve. That is the whole product.

Why it beats stacking blocks

Blocks give you discrete one-inch steps and no way to know in advance how many you need. So the routine is: guess, place, drive up, get out, check the bubble, drive off, restack, repeat. Experienced owners get it in two tries. Everyone else does not.

A curved leveler gives continuous lift. You drive up slowly while somebody watches the level, or you watch a phone level sitting on the step, and you stop when it reads level. One pull-up, any height within range.

That is the entire argument and it is a good one. It is also why most owners who buy a ramp keep their blocks: ramps cannot go under a jack.

What actually differentiates them

The grip mat. The most important accessory and the one people skip. Smooth plastic on wet concrete or packed hardpack slides, and a leveler sliding out from under a climbing tire is the failure mode. A textured rubber mat under the ramp eliminates it. If a kit does not include one, add one.

Whether a chock is included. You need something to stop the tire rolling back down the curve. The better kits include a wedge shaped for their own ramp profile, which works far better than a generic chock.

Pack count. A tandem-axle trailer generally wants two ramps per side — one under each wheel — because supporting one wheel of a tandem pair twists the suspension. Read whether you are buying one or two.

Stated load rating. All the mainstream options are rated well above a travel trailer’s axle load, so this is rarely the deciding factor. Treat a very high stated number as marketing rather than as a reason to choose.

The common mistake

Driving up fast. The ramp curve means the trailer climbs progressively, and momentum carries you past level. Crawl. Idle speed in low gear and a spotter, or a phone level you can see from the mirror.

If your trailer is single axle

One ramp does it, which is why the single-pack options exist and why they are the cheaper route. You still want a chock on the other side and jack pads under the stabilizers.

The verdict

Buy the Andersen two-pack if you want the complete, bagged, mat-included answer for a tandem trailer and do not mind the price. Buy two Beech Lane singles if you would rather spend less for the same function — each one includes its chock and mat. Keep a bag of blocks either way, because the ramp will not go under your tongue jack.

Common questions

Place the ramp against the tire on the low side, drive slowly up the curve until level, then wedge the chock behind the tire. The curve gives continuous lift rather than one-inch steps.
