What this site is

Trailer & Hitch publishes buying guides and reference information about towing equipment. It is published by Iron Mako Media.

The content is general information, not advice about your specific vehicle, trailer or situation. We do not know your tow vehicle’s ratings, your trailer’s condition or how you have loaded it, and nothing here is a substitute for your own owner’s manuals, the stickers on your own vehicle, or a qualified inspection.

Safety, specifically

Towing involves ratings and limits set by vehicle and equipment manufacturers, and those documents govern. Where this site and your manufacturer’s documentation disagree, follow the manufacturer.

You are responsible for confirming that any equipment you buy is appropriate for your vehicle and trailer, that it is installed correctly, and that your combination is within every applicable rating. Several pages here explain how to work those numbers out; none of them can do it for you.

Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously and we say where every claim comes from — see the editorial policy and how we pick. We do not guarantee that the content is complete, current or error-free.

Specifications change, products are revised and discontinued, and prices move constantly. Prices shown here are read automatically from the retailer and expire on their own; the price at the retailer when you click is the price that applies.
