Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Trailer & Hitch does with information about visitors. It is written to describe what this site actually does rather than to cover every practice a template might list.

Who we are

Trailer & Hitch is published by Iron Mako Media. The contact address for any privacy question is contact@trailerandhitch.com.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. It collects the usual web analytics information: pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. It uses cookies and similar identifiers to do that. We see aggregate reports; we do not use it to build a profile of an individual visitor.

Affiliate click counts. When you click a buy link we record that a click happened on that page, which is how we know whether a page is useful. That is an aggregate count.

Contact form submissions. If you send a message we receive the name, email address, subject and message you typed. We use it to reply and we keep it in the mailbox. We do not add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information, including IP address, for operational and security purposes.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information.
We do not run a newsletter and do not collect email addresses for marketing.
We do not run advertising networks or display ads.
We do not require an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
We do not use a captcha service, so no captcha vendor sees your visit.

Third parties involved

Google Analytics — analytics, as described above.
Amazon — when you click a buy link, Amazon sets its own cookies to attribute the referral. That happens on Amazon’s site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps operational logs.
Microsoft — the contact form sends mail through Microsoft Graph, so a submission passes through Microsoft’s mail infrastructure.

Product images on this site are served from Amazon’s own content network rather than from our server, which means your browser makes a request to Amazon when a product image loads.

Cookies

The cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics. There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking pixel and no social embed. Amazon’s referral cookie is set by Amazon when you click through to them.

Your browser can block or delete cookies, and most browsers offer a setting for this. The site works normally without them.

How long we keep things

Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting in Google Analytics. Contact form messages stay in the mailbox for as long as they are useful for the conversation they are part of. Server logs are retained by the hosting provider on their schedule.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. Email contact@trailerandhitch.com and we will deal with it.

In practice we hold very little: analytics is aggregate, and the only thing identifiably yours would be a contact form message you chose to send.

Children

This site is written for adults buying towing equipment and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the site does, we will change this page and update the date at the top. There is no version history, so if you need to know what it said previously, ask.
